Terms of Use
Effective September 28, 2026
These terms govern your use of BRIEF (formerly Kalling English), an English job-interview practice app operated by SOUNDGYM Inc., a company in the Republic of Korea ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. The service
BRIEF helps you prepare for job interviews in English. You enter the company, role, and job description (JD) you are applying for, and optionally your work experience or resume. BRIEF builds a practice plan up to your interview date and calls you at the times you choose. In each call, an AI mock recruiter asks interview questions in English and follows up on your answers. After the call, you get the transcript and an evaluation of your answers against practice criteria, and you can answer a question again to compare your answers.
The mock recruiter, practice plan, evaluations, and translations are generated automatically by artificial intelligence and may be inaccurate or incomplete. In particular:
- BRIEF is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any company you apply to. The evaluation criteria are practice criteria derived from the JD you entered, not the company's actual hiring standards.
- BRIEF does not predict or guarantee any interview result, job offer, or hiring decision.
- Evaluations are based on the text of your answers. BRIEF does not assess your pronunciation or accent.
- BRIEF is a practice tool, not a source of professional career, legal, immigration, or other advice.
2. Your account
You sign in with your Apple or Google account and are responsible for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 14 years old (16 if you live in Japan, or the minimum age in your country, if higher) to use BRIEF. If you are under the age of majority where you live (for example, 18 in Japan and Taiwan), you need the consent of a parent or guardian to use BRIEF and to purchase Premium. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
3. Free practice and Premium
- Free trial practice. Each account can complete up to three full practice calls for free, with up to 5 minutes of calls per day during the trial. Only completed calls of at least one minute count. Retry calls, cancelled calls, and calls shorter than one minute do not count. The trial is per account: adding a new position or changing the company or JD does not grant a new trial.
- Daily warm-up. After the trial, free accounts can take one warm-up call of up to one minute per day, covering a single question. Follow-up questions, answer retries, and the full evaluation are part of Premium. Your call history and feedback already generated stay available.
- Premium is an auto-renewable monthly subscription. It includes up to 30 minutes of calls per day (up to 10 minutes per call), follow-up questions, answer retries with comparison, the full evaluation, and optional on-device recording of your answers.
- The price is shown in the app and at the store checkout in your local currency. Any introductory offer or free trial that applies to your subscription is shown on the store's payment confirmation screen. The three free practice calls are separate from any store subscription trial, and we never start a paid subscription without your confirmation at the store.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app or your BRIEF account does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. This does not affect any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country.
- Call limits and the features of each tier may change as the service evolves. We will show the current limits in the app.
- For purchases made through the App Store, Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement also applies.
4. Scheduled calls
Practice calls repeat on the days and at the time you choose, and you can change or pause them in the app at any time. When you enter an interview date for the position you are preparing for, BRIEF stops scheduled calls before the interview: calls end at least 30 minutes before the interview time, or by the day before if you didn't enter a time. Calls can be missed or delayed because of your device settings, network conditions, or push-notification services, and a missed call is not refunded or carried over.
5. What you submit
The JD, experience, resume, and answers you submit remain yours. By submitting them you confirm that you are allowed to use them this way. Don't submit other people's personal information, or confidential information that you are not permitted to share (for example, your current employer's trade secrets). We recommend removing details you don't need for practice, such as your phone number or home address, before you upload a resume.
You grant us the license needed to operate the service: to process, store, and display this content back to you, including sending it to our AI providers to hold the call, plan your practice, and generate evaluations. See our Privacy Policy for how this data is handled.
6. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: don't attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to our systems, resell or scrape the service, use it to generate unlawful content, try to manipulate the AI into ignoring its instructions, or circumvent free-tier or usage limits (for example, by creating multiple accounts). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Our content
The app, its design, and the AI-generated content (including questions, plans, and evaluations) are owned by us or our licensors. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial interview preparation.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee that calls will be uninterrupted or on time, that AI responses or evaluations will be accurate, or that the service will be error-free. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including the outcome of any interview or job application, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. These exclusions and limits do not apply to damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or your statutory consumer rights.
9. Changes and termination
We may update the service and these terms. For material changes we will update the effective date above and announce the change and the date it takes effect in advance, in the app or on this page. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, you can stop using the service, cancel your subscription, and delete your account. We may suspend or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, with reasonable notice where practicable.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in. If you use BRIEF as a consumer, nothing in these terms prevents you from bringing a claim in the courts of your country of residence where its law gives you that right.
